An 18 seater bus on Sunday plunged into the Owena River on the Akure Ondo road in Ondo State. An eye witness account stated that the driver of the bus who was coming from the Ondo town axis and heading toward Akure lost control as a result of speeding and plunged into the river. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) on Sunday declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the overall winners of the just concluded Local Government Area elections. The elections held on April 17, in Rivers state. Justice George Omereji, the chairman of RSIEC and the Presiding officer of the concluded election made the declaration at the commission’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, Omereji announced that PDP won in all the chairmanship positions and the councillorship seats in the 23 local government areas. A prosecuting witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Salisu Shuaibu has been revealed to be the alleged owner of the Halal Fountain Hotel (Annex), in Kaduna. Some residents of Northeast, have attributed the rise in price of cement to the widening gap between demand and supply of the product. A survey carried out in Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa as well as Jigawa states, indicate an average of 40 per cent increase in price.
