Kebbi state governor, Abubakar Bagudu says his administration has secured a $70 million World Bank grant, to strengthen adolescent girl-child education. He disclosed this on Saturday, in Birnin Kebbi at the 5th Kebbi State Women Ramadan Lecture Series themed: “The Fundamental Role of Women in Islam.” The lecture’s sub themes included: Innovative Islamic Ways of Home Management in COVID-19 era, Family Obligations of Wives in Times of Economic Hardship and Curbing Gender Based Violence. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, on Friday approved Plateau State University, PLASU, Bokkos as one of it’s Computer Base Test, CBT, center. The news was unveiled by the University Registrar, Mr Amos Mallo, in a statement. Some residents of Northeast, have attributed the rise in price of cement to the widening gap between demand and supply of the product. A survey carried out in Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa as well as Jigawa states, indicate an average of 40 per cent increase in price. Respondents to the survey said several challenges affected production in factories, one of which is the outbreak of COVID-19, thus reducing supply, while demand kept increasing. The University of Ibadan (UI) has released the results of its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening exercise for candidates who chose the institution. This is contained in a statement by the institution’s spokesperson, Mr Olatunji Oladejo, in Ibadan on Saturday. He stated that the Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi, announced the release of the results via the university’s official bulletin No. 4372 of Saturday, 17 April, 2021. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Friday commenced training of its heads of Electoral Operations across the 36 states and the FCT on modalities for the expansion of Polling Units (PUs). The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will establish a N100 billion Strategic Health Impact Fund for Transformation (SHIFT) to support the fight against COVID-19 in the country.
