The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has carved out a new transmission region in Kano from the old Kaduna Region. This brings to 10 the number of TCN regional operation centres in the region. TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday. Nigeria did not record any death from COVID-19 for the last 14 consecutive days, maintaining the death toll of 2,117. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said this through its verified website on Saturday morning. It, however, said infection rate was rising, reporting 13 additional cases as of June 18, 2021. According to it, the new cases are from Delta, with nine cases, while Gombe and Rivers, two cases each. A tanker conveying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) crashed on Saturday, spilling its content at Community Road, Ijegun-Imore by Navy Town, Lagos causing panic among residents. The acting coordinator of the Southwest zonal office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the development. The Kebbi State Police Command has revealed that the bandits that kidnapped students and teachers of Government Federal College Yauri used a vehicle belonging to the state High Court judge. The Nigerian troops operating under Operation Hadarin Daji, have rescued two teachers and five students abducted on Thursday from Federal Government College Yauri, the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said in a statement on Friday. By Lizzy Carr, Bauchi Death toll from cholera outbreaks in Bauchi state has risen to 42, the chairperson of the state primary healthcare develoment agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed has disclosed. Giving an update in an interview with ASHENEWS on Friday, Mohammed said Bauchi local government has the highest number of recorded death with 22 deaths and 2,185 infections, followed by Toro local government area, which recorded eight deaths and 212 infections. Kaduna state governor, Nasir El’Rufai says the government sacked 99 political appointees as part of its right sizing. El-Rufai made the disclosure at news briefing on Friday, saying that the government was yet to disengage any state civil servant in the state. The governor explained that the disengaged political appointees constituted 30 per cent of political office holders in the state.
