The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) says the federal government’s  plans to increase the nation’s oil and gas reserves, are on course and being boosted by strategic policies and programmes. Mr Paul Osu, Head, Public Affairs, DPR, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos. Osu said the national aspiration of Nigeria was to increase its reserves from 36.91 billion barrels to 50 billion barrels, in the short to midterm. The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) says it is not responsible for the supply shortfall of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas, and the consequent price hike across the country. The company made the clarification in a statement issued by its General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Mrs Eyono Fatayi-Williams on Monday in Lagos. Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) sealed the head offices and other branches of four banks in Kaduna on Monday over N300.5 million unpaid taxes. KADIRS Executive Chairman, Dr Zaid Abubakar identified the affected banks as First Bank, Access Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and Sterling Bank. The Department of State Services, DSS, has released from its custody, eight of the 12 aides of Sunday Igboho on Monday. Their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi confirmed the release at a press conference in Abuja. Igboho’s aides have been in DSS’s custody for 61 days after their arrest in July. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, says the borrowing level for Nigeria is still at 23 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), adding that government borrowing is sensible and responsible.
