The NCDC disclosed this via its official website on Saturday morning. The additional 337 COVID-19 infections recorded on Friday represented a decrease from the 601 cases reported on Thursday. The NCDC pointed out that while 9,094 patients were still down with the disease, 189,608 others have been discharged so far. Guinea has declared an end to the Marburg virus disease outbreak after discovering no new cases over the past 42-day incubation period, or the time between infection and the onset of symptoms. The virus outbreak, which was confirmed on August 9 marked the first time the disease emerged in the country and in West Africa. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Thursday imposed sanctions against the junta in Guinea and those slowing Mali’s post-coup transition.
