“We cannot quantify the number of motorcycles burnt down by the fire now because the fire is still raging.
“But many people lost their shops along with their motorcycles because they could not come in time as the fire started around 6 am.
“But men of the federal and state fire services are currently battling, but I know it will take some time before they can quench it all,” he said.
Sanyinnawal said “The PDP views the unfortunate incident as divinely ordained and the party is however grateful that no life was lost in the blaze. We pray for fortitude on the part of the business community and their speedy recovery from the huge losses incurred through the incident.
“It is also our hope that the affected traders will soon resume their business activities, which are a crucial contribution to the commercial and economic life of our dear state.
“Our party wishes to enjoin the people of the state to exploit the current sacred season of Ramadan to seek Divine protection against the recurrence of similar misfortunes and the prevalent socioeconomic predicaments being experienced in Sokoto State and Nigeria at large,” the statement reads.
