The residents of Ibadan, capital of Oyo state, are currently protesting over high cost of living, food inflation and the current economic hardship in the country.
The protest is going on at the Mokola area of the city as many were seen carrying placards showing ‘End food hike and inflation’, ‘The poor are starving’, ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises’, amongst others.
Some police officers were seen at the protest scene to ensure that no breach of peace is allowed during any protest in the state.

The protest comes a week after Kano, Minna, amongst others, held similar events over economic hardship occasioned by petrol subsidy removal, food inflation, and high cost of living.
Last Thursday, President Bola Tinubu ordered the National Security Adviser, (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi; to work with governors and go after those hoarding foodstuff.
