ASHENEWS reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered that the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Professor Cyril Ndifon be remanded at the Kuje Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja who issued the directive on Monday said that this order is pending the conclusion of his bail application.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had on Monday, arraigned Ndifon in court on four counts charge over an alleged sexual misconduct against some of his students.
The Professor of Law however pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
This online platform reports that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)’s Spokesperson, Mrs Azuka Ogugua, had in a statement issued in October 2023 said the commission had filed a criminal charge against Ndifon, following the conclusion of the investigation into the professor’s alleged gross misconducts against some of his students.
The ICPC had in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), on Oct. 4, arrested Ndifon in Calabar, Cross River, after shunning several invitations extended to him.
