According to him, the center will play a pivotal role in enabling the DSA to explore the advantages of space capabilities while also developing innovations that will boost counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations in the country.

On his part, the Chief of Defence Space Agency, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ahmed Abdullahi Shinkafi said that the DSA was empowered by the DSA act to create robust space competence that is capable of providing requisite support to the AFN and other security Agencies.

He said that the centre will serve as an avenue to nurture ideas, increase creativity, while also fostering innovation in space, science and technology endeavours for Nigerias armed forces as well as associated agencies.

Shinkafi further urged the federal government to support the DSA with funding that would see to the training and re-training of personnel, research and development as well as technological collaboration both within and outside the country.
