ASHENEWS reports that the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has assured online Journalists in the state of a robust working relationship.
The governor stated this when he met with the Association of Kano Online Journalists, ASKOJ.
Represented by the state Commissioner of Information, Halilu Baba Dantiye, the governor said that his administration will work towards building a mutually beneficial relationship that would see to fighting fake news and upholding the credibility of the press in the state.
He noted that the new administration will support the association in all areas it requires interventions.
He urged the members to reciprocate such gestures with regular publicity of the government’s activities.
“The Commissioner described the role of digital journalists in information dissemination as pivotal to the promotion of programs of Kano State Government, adding that the Government of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has resolved to associate with ASKOJ and give it due recognition among committees of media associations in Kano,” a statement signed by Yusuf Issa An-Nuphawi, the Acting Assistant Secretary of ASKOJ said.
On his part, the Acting Chairman of ASKOJ, Yakubu Salisu restated the Associations commitment to tackling fake news and restoring credibility to online journalism in the state.
He maintained that members of ASKOJ are responsible and credible journalists whose media platforms are incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.
He assured that the members of the association were professionals with pedigree and understanding of the ethics and values of journalism.
