The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected the principal officers for the 10th Senate.
Recall that Godswill Akpabio, and Jibrin Barau were, on June 13, 2023, elected as Senate and Deputy presidents, respectively.
According to The Nation, the party selected Senator Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti state as Senate Leader, and Senator Dave Umahi from Ebonyi state as Deputy Senate Leader.

Senator Ali Ndume from Borno state emerged as Chief Whip while Senator Lola Ashiru from Kwara state is Deputy Chief Whip.
The opposition parties, led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are still struggling to make nominations for the Minority Leader position.
ASHENEWS reports that while former Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is in the forefront as preferred candidate for the position, others jostling for its are Senator Abdul Ningi, and Nyesom Wike’s favourite, Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe.
