ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi state governor, Nasir Idris has stressed the need for Nigerians to be committed to sustainable peace and the unity of the country.
ASHENEWS further reports that Governor Idris stated this in his Sallah message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, to mark the Eid-el-Kabir festivity in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
“Peace is really very imperative if we truly want Nigeria to fully develop and to be at par with its contemporaries in the comity of nations.
“This is a task for all the citizens, irrespective of religious, political, ethnic, or cultural differences,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria stands to fully exploit its potential when the citizens are united and patriotic.
Idris also urged that Nigeria’s unity should be non-negotiable and sacrosanct.
The governor restated his commitment to ensuring the security of the lives and property of all residents of the state.
He said that his administration would leave no stone unturned in synergizing with the security agencies to enable them to perform their duties diligently.
Idris also promised to continue to support them with logistics and moral support in order that they are alive to their duties.
“The state government remains committed to providing the social needs of the people, as well as initiating and implementing sound policies and programmes.
“We will initiate empowerment programmes for all segments of people particularly, the vulnerable, women and youths who have supported us to victory during the elections,” he assured.
The governor felicitated the people of the state and Nigerians on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir and urged them to sustain fervent prayers for lasting peace and unity.
