The U.S president and first lady, Melinda Trump have tested positive for coronavirus and will begin quarantine Friday.
The first couple were tested positive after one of the president’s most senior advisers, Hope Hicks, tested positive on Thursday.
Trump made this known through his Twitter handle, @realDonaldTrump early Friday morning (Nigerian time).
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump tweeted.
The Guardian reports that Hicks accompanied the president to the first presidential debate on Air Force One on Wednesday.
Trump also confirmed on Fox News Thursday evening that the couple were awaiting results of COVID-19 tests following Hick’s positive result.
According to Trump’s doctor, the couple would “remain at home within the White House during their canvalescence.”
