The Rotary Club of Naraguta, District 9125, has commissioned two borehole projects in Rigizah Community in Jos North Local Council Area of Plateau.
The event is in commemoration of the Club’s “Water, Hygiene and Sanitation” goals, held on Friday in Jos.
Mrs. Virginia Jang, the Outgoing President of the Club who is also known as “Madam Project”, said she feels fulfilled that all the goals she had set out to achieve during her tenure are over 100 percent done.
She sighted the commissioning of the borehole project in Rigizah as a dream come true, saying that whoever gives water has given life.
“I feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that the community’s demands have been met.
“Today, this community not just the school and the church, everyone, even the other religious bodies here are going to have water.
“As you know, water is life, water is the essence of our existence, without water we would die, livestock will not survive, water is essential for our daily living.
“So, I feel so fulfilled that this community will cry no more concerning water,” she said.
Jang who noted that she had exceeded over 100 percent of the goals set for her tenure said she will continue to do more till she bows out of office.
Similarly, Dr. Elvis Chukwu, the past District Governor of the Club, expressed joy at the execution of the project, saying that it will help achieve hygiene and invariably prevent polio in the community which the club targets with the project.
“I am quite excited about this project, it is one of the Club’s areas of intervention. You will agree with me that part of our hygiene shortcomings in this country is because we don’t have clean water, so we will be able to equally use this to defeat that challenge.
“And you know that Polio is one of our biggest projects all over the world globally, and part of what brings the polio virus is the lack of clean water.
“So with this water project, we believe that this community will drink out of it, and probably use it for its sanitation purposes,” he said.
In expressing their gratitude and delight at the project’s commissioning, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and members of the community all showed their delight by praying that the donors will be blessed beyond measure.
Luka Wariya, District Head of Rigizah, prayed earnestly for Rotary Club, Naraguta, saying that their individual lives will never be dry.
He admonished members of the community to ensure diligent use of the facility so as to attract more from Rotary.
The Community’s Woman leader, Mrs. Annah Luka, and Mr. John Haruna, Chairman Anaguta Development Association, both recounted all the projects Rotary had executed in the community, praying that the Club will harvest all the blessings accrued to it.
They also expressed willingness to join members of the club in the noble acts of impacting lives and humanity as Rotary is known for.
