A driver and player with Wikki Tourists FC have tested positive for coronavirus.
The Secretary of the Club, Abdullahi Ibrahim in an interview with Ashenewsonline on Sunday said out of the 66 samples taken from players, staff and officials, only the two came out positive.
“This is good news to us, especially because we are getting set for the expected lift of ban on contact sports and possible commencement of the 2020/2021 NPFL Season.
The test, which was organized by the club ahead of the expected return to the season, was conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, at the Bauchi State COVID-19 molecular, laboratory on 14th September, 2020.
The technical adviser of the club, Usman Abd’Allah, expressed delight on the result of the test, where no player was affected.
“We are happy with the result. It will add positive thinking to the players and the team generally. It means there will be no distractions on our planned programmes when we finally resume,” Abd’Allah added.
The Wikki gaffer assured that the team will continue to observe all COVID-19 protocols as directed by NCDC when the ban on contact sports is lifted.
