The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Enugu State has said it will deploy all its officers and marshals for the general elections in Enugu State, except those guarding its office facilities and emergency response unit.
The Enugu State Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Joseph Toby, disclosed this in Enugu on Tuesday.
Toby said that the command would also deploy all its operational assets for the exercise.
He said that the command had put the assets in good condition to ensure optimal functionality.
He listed the assets to include mobile ambulances and intensive care units, towing vans, patrol vehicles, and motorbikes.
“We are going to deploy all our personnel except those guarding our office facilities and emergency response unit,” he said.
The sector commander said that the corps would check the road worthiness of all vehicles to be used for the elections in the state.
He said that checking the vehicles’ roadworthiness was assigned to the corps by the Inter-agency Consultation Committee on Election Security.
“We have to ensure and certify that each vehicle on election duty is sound and fit to convey INEC personnel and materials, which is highly necessary for timely and smooth conduct of the elections,” he said.
