The General Manager of People’s FM in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Mr. Hayford Lawson has emphasised the role of media in promoting dignity in service.
He said during a media sensitization visit by Comrade Mrs Timinepere Jombo Idoko, who is vying for the position of Deputy National President in the forthcoming Triennial Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, slated to hold in Minna, Niger State.
Receiving Idoko, Mr Lawson, pledged his support to her aspiration to vie for the post of Deputy National President, assuring her of the station’s full media support.
He commended her commitment to NAWOJ, noting her efficiency in the various capacities she has served which include Chairperson and Zonal Vice President for two tenures, and stating that he was no way in doubt that if she emerged as Deputy President, she would richly complement the incoming President to move NAWOJ to enviable heights.
Accompanied on the visit by her campaign team, Mrs Idoko told the General Manager that she aspires for that position in order to team up with other well meaning officers who would emerge in the election to bring the needed professional growth and development the association yearns for as well as helping in forging bonds of peace and unity among members.
She further stated that her success at the Conference will be a plus to the state and the zone as female journalists in the zone will cross-pollinate ideas with others nationwide to enhance their professionalism.
