A non-governmental organization, The Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development (SFPD), has organized a workshop on the dangers sod Gender-based Violence (GBV) for students of the Sokoto State School of Nursing Science.
Speaking at the one-day sensitization, the foundation’s Programme Officer, Alhaji Musa Galadanci, said that the program was supported by the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative Project.
He said the campaign is aimed at providing the opportunity to share thoughts on measures to reduce violence against women and girls, drawing insights from their various communities.
Galadanci while Speaking on the need to break the silence around GBV said that the students need to understand what Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) are, and what the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAAP) Law stipulates.
On his part, the representative of the school principal, Malam Bashir Bala, applauded the foundation for its efforts toward enlightening Nigerians about GBV and urged students to speak out and support reducing the menace in all forms.
