The Lagos- Abeokuta Highway was on Tuesday barricaded by protesters who stormed the street to protest difficulties in accessing money from Automated Teller Machines(ATMs) in the area.
Reports state that the protesters also made bonfires with tires, blocking both sides of the road and causing gridlock.
The Head of the protesters who identified himself as Kazeem Sanni lamented that residents have been agonized by the inability of banks to dispense cash.
Sanni also said that the banks were refusing customers access to deposit their monies into their bank accounts.
“The situation is really pathetic as this has grounded and paralyzed business activities.
“We decided to demonstrate to show our grievances as we can no longer bear this hardship,’’ he said.
Sanni thereby advised the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ease the sufferings of the people by printing more of the new Naira notes.
