ASHENEWS reports that the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has directed the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to commence the distribution of palliative to residents of the state.
The Governor has also directed the deployment of free buses along specific routes used by students and staff of tertiary institutions in Ilorin, the state capital.
The governor who disclosed this in a series of tweets he made on his official Twitter handle said that the Government’s intervention was to lessen the impact of the currency change as well as the fuel scarcity in the country.
Abdulrazaq said that beneficiaries of the hr support program include widows, pensioners, small-scale farmers, marketers, and transporters.
His tweet reads “To cushion the effects of the ongoing fuel scarcity and the currency change in the country, I have approved palliatives for various vulnerable groups in Kwara State.
“The palliatives will include cash transfers to widows, pensioners, transporters, marketers, smallholder farmers, and other vulnerable people.
“I have directed the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to work out details and lead this modest support as soon as possible to mitigate the effects of the situation on our people,”
