A human rights and social justice activist, Adeyinka Joshua Owolabi has told President Muhammadu Buhari to purge the ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) non performing board members before he hands over power to the incoming government.
Owolabi said one of the ways to do that is to bring on board good chairmen and members as board members of many government agencies and parastatals.
According to him, some of the board chairmen and members’ tenures are about to elapse but unfortunately, some of them did not do well in adding value to their respective places of primary assignments.
He said the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, (NCPC), Muslim Pilgrims Commission, Ministry of Information and Culture, Ministry of Educational, TetFund, and Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) are ministries and agencies which tenure of their board chairmen and members is about to elapse.
Mr. Owolabi advised that the government should not think of elongating their tenure because some of them have poor performance.
“There are other Nigerians who are better and well equipped in terms of knowledge and ideas that the government should bring on board to support the ministries, agencies, and commissions to work better for the overall interest of Nigerians.
“For some of them, their tenure Will expire soon, in fact, the first week of February is the date set for others to leave their office to face other means of survival.
“May I advise that a good research and strategic team should be recruited to embark on a hunt of good Nigerians that Will support ministers, executives, and government senior officials to deliver good services to Nigeria,” Owolabi said
