ASHENEWS reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the deadline for the use of the old notes till February 10, President Muhammadu Buhari’s special assistant, Bashir Ahmad tweeted this on his Twitter handle @BashirAhmaad on Sunday.
According to the tweet, the apex bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, announced the extension in a statement signed on Sunday.
“The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria says so far the CBN has collected 1.9 trillion old Naira notes and left with N900 billion to achieve effective implementation of the policy,” he tweeted.
