ASHENEWS reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the former governor of Osun state, Bisi Akande on the occasion of his 84th birthday.
This online publication reports that the president’s message was contained in a series of tweets by the Senior special assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Tuesday.
The president, in the statement described the former administrator as a true statesman who had dedicated his time to the service of the people.
Buhari also said that Akande’s legacy as governor of Osun state was laid through his hard work and dedication to duty.
“The President pays homage to the sacrifices of one of the champions of the nation’s democratic struggle, a man he says rose from humble beginnings to occupy the party’s highest constitutional position through hard work and discipline.
“President Buhari says Chief Akande will continue “to bask in the sun as a true statesman and a symbol of sacrifice, bravery and moral integrity,” the tweets read.
Akande served as governor of Osun state between 1999 and 2003 under the umbrella of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) party.
