Family demands justice over alleged murder of 34-year old son

The family of 34-year old Mohammed Danjuma has demanded justice over the alleged murder of their son.

Father of the graduate of Nigerian Maritime Academy, Oron, Danjuma Sidi said Danjuma was murdered on July 7, 2022, within the neighbourhood of Clapperton Road in Sokoto metropolis.

Sidi told journalists that there were alleged plans to scuttle the investigation and prosecution of the suspects that are linked to his son’s murder.

Expressing the family’s worries, the 62-year old Sidi told journalists that the suspected murderers of his son were roaming the streets five months after they allegedly killed him.

“There is the evidence of a trending video where my son was handcuffed, tortured, dehumanized and debased before giving up the ghost. Police then swung into action and six suspects were arrested.

“In the cause of investigation, the family of the suspects reached out to us and begged for amicable resolution of the matter, devoid of Police involvement. I told them to allow justice to prevail because no resolution will bring my son back to life. They left and promised to get back to me.

“To my dismay, they came back after two previous failed appointments and offered me N600,000 as compensation for the life of my son and bury the matter. I outrightly rejected because if they are to offer me monetary compensation Islamically, it is not this paltry N600,000.

“I am using this opportunity to call on Sokoto state and the Federal Government, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Human Rights organisations and the media to help get justice for the departed soul of my son,” Sidi pleaded.

When contacted the spokesperson of Sokoto Police Command, DSP Abubakar Sanusi told ASHENEWS that the matter was a mob action and investigation was still ongoing.
