The Sokoto state governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP), Dr Ibrahim Liman has lamented the exclusion of his name on the list of governorship candidates on the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Liman, who addressed newsmen at a press conference in Sokoto on Wednesday also complained about the exclusion of names of candidates who contested and won other positions under the party in the state.
The guber candidate, who expressed displeasure over the omission, said it became pertinent to inform party supporters as well as concerned citizens on the situation at hand.
“This is following the display of aspirants list under each political party by INEC, my name as gubernatorial candidate, along with other national and state assemblies, did not appear.
“Which means that the particulars of affected candidates were not duly uploaded on the INEC website by the national office of Accord Party,” he said.
According to him, all candidates abided by INEC regulations regarding nominations and other procedures and guidelines issued by the electoral body.
“We had followed all the necessary steps, including primary elections, filling of relevant forms, affidavit and presenting same to the National Accord office in Abuja accordingly,” he added.
The gubernatorial candidate further said that the leadership of the party at both national and state were aware of this development and were taking steps to rectify the problem.
He appealed to party supporters to remain calm, united and loyal to the party and all other constituted authorities in the spirit of democracy and purposefulness.
He said their mission was to revive the political culture characterised by corruption, indiscipline and irresponsibility.
“Good citizens of Sokoto State in particular and country in general, it is time we rethink and embrace political responsibility, reverse our focus from personal to public interest and the development of humanity.
“We are ready to provide the necessary leadership and with your support and cooperation our victory is certain,” he said.
