The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sokoto State, joins the rest of the world in celebrating young people on the occasion of the 2026 International Youth Day.
The Commission acknowledges the significant role played by the youth in Nigeria’s democratic process. Young people dominated the 2025/2026 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Exercise, accounting for 67.4 per cent of the total number of registered voters.
This impressive participation demonstrates the commitment and growing interest of Nigerian youth in the electoral and democratic process. INEC Sokoto therefore encourages young people to sustain this positive engagement by participating peacefully and responsibly in elections.
The Commission reminds the youth that the future belongs to them and urges them to shun violence, drug abuse, thuggery, ritual activities and cultism. Instead, they are encouraged to embrace education, creativity, innovation, hard work and productive activities that will contribute to building a peaceful, educated, creative and prosperous society.
INEC Sokoto celebrates and appreciates the youth for their continued participation in the democratic process. The Commission further encourages all eligible young voters to collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and use them to vote for candidates of their choice.
Your Vote is Your Power. Your Vote is Secured and Will Be Counted.
INEC Sokoto wishes all Nigerian youth a Happy and Inspiring 2026 International Youth Day.
