The Lagos State Police Command has reviewed security measures at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following a viral video showing masked individuals.
Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani led the assessment visit on Wednesday. The visit was prompted by footage showing two masked persons emerging from a nearby forest, raising security concerns.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development. Tijani inspected the university’s security arrangements with senior officers and engaged university management, emphasizing the need for stronger security around the campus.
He advised improving perimeter security and access control to prevent potential threats and ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. Tijani also cautioned against acts that could undermine existing security measures and called for community cooperation and timely information sharing.
Supported by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and the state government, surveillance drones have been deployed to enhance aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention in the area.
Tijani assured the university community of the police’s commitment to safety and urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and share credible information via emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.
He reiterated that maintaining peace and security is a top priority for the Lagos Police.
