The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has trained 160 youths from Kebbi and Zamfara states in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics to enhance their digital skills and employment prospects.

Mr. Luka Dalang, Programme Coordinator of RimaFin Consulting, disclosed this in an interview with reporters on Friday in Kaduna, at the conclusion of the five-day training program.

Dalang explained that the participants, consisting of unemployed youths and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, were trained under NCDMB’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

He stated that 80 participants each from Kebbi and Zamfara benefited from the program.

According to him, the training aimed to expose participants to emerging technologies and prepare them for opportunities in the evolving digital economy.

Dalang noted that beneficiaries were introduced to practical applications of AI and data analytics, including data collection, interpretation, decision-making, and problem-solving.

He added that these skills would enable participants to improve their productivity, support businesses and organizations with data-driven solutions, and explore opportunities in the growing digital services sector.

The coordinator also mentioned that participants could apply their knowledge in agriculture, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and public administration, where data analysis and AI tools are increasingly used to improve efficiency and service delivery.

“The goal is to empower them with knowledge of AI and data analytics and to enable them to support government and society through technology-driven solutions,” he said.

Dalang emphasized that the initiative was designed to equip young people with relevant skills while promoting productive engagement, especially in communities facing socio-economic challenges.

“We live in a digital world. There is a need for our youths to be aligned with global developments.

“We believe this training is timely, relevant, and will positively impact their future,” he added.

Dalang also announced that similar programs would be organized for participants from Yobe and Gombe states in the North-East, and Nasarawa State in the North-Central zone.

He commended the Executive Secretary of the board, Engr. Felix Ogbe, for supporting initiatives aimed at expanding digital literacy and human capital development nationwide.
