The Lagos State Government on Thursday disclosed that 28,000 trucks have registered on the Lekki-Epe e-call-up system.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made this known in a statement in Lagos.
Osiyemi said he, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mr Olawale Musa, the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), terminal operators and other stakeholders, held a status review meeting on the Lekki-Epe e-call-up system.
“The routine engagement, which was held at the Ministry of Transportation, provided an opportunity to review developments and challenges affecting the success of the e-call-up system around the Dangote Refinery, Lekki Free Zone and the Lekki Deep Sea Port area,” he said.
The commissioner said the e-call-up consultant, while giving updates on the level of compliance, mentioned that about 11,000 transporters had registered with 28,000 trucks.
On the challenges of trucks accessing the corridor without a call-up, he assured that sustainable enforcement measures would soon be deployed to ensure seamless movement.
In attendance at the meeting were Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and the Director of Transport Operations in the ministry, Mr Olasunkanmi Ojowuro.
Others included e-call-up consultants, leadership of NUPENG, terminal operators, directors of the Ministry of Transportation, and other transport stakeholders.
