The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has approved the appointment of Mr. Aloysius Attah, Anambra State Chief Correspondent of The Sun Newspaper, and five others as directors.
The council also appointed Prof. Jacintha Eze as the university librarian.
The appointments were contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Saturday.
They followed vacancies in the university’s Office of the Librarian and six directorates.
The appointments were ratified during the council’s 21st emergency meeting held on Friday (April 17) at the university’s Council Chambers.
It was reported that Attah has been appointed as the university’s Director of Information and Communication.
According to the statement, signed by Attah, the appointments are expected to strengthen the administrative framework of the institution.
“It is also expected to drive effective service delivery in line with the institution’s mandate, mission, and vision,” the statement said.
Other appointees include Dr. Jane Ezeonu, Director of Medical Services; Mr. Obinna Ibe, Director of Works Services; Mr. Pascal Akuma, Director of Procurement; Mr. Lawrence Ezeokafor, Director of Physical Planning; and Mr. Collins Obi, Chief Safety Officer.
All the appointments took effect from April 17, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five years.
The statement added that the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Monsur Kukoyi, urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them with integrity and dedicated service.
It also noted that Kukoyi charged them to uphold the values of the university and thanked the Visitor, President Bola Tinubu, for his commitment to revitalising the education sector.
