Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has donated fully equipped Chemistry, Physics, Home Economics, and Agriculture laboratories to Mafoluku Grammar School, Oshodi, Lagos.
The laboratories were formally handed over to the school on Friday.
The Group Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, said the initiative would strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Nigeria. He was represented at the event by his Special Assistant, Mr. Hamid Adebowale.
Afolabi highlighted the company’s commitment to fostering innovation and practical learning in Nigerian public schools, describing the donation as a strategic investment in the nation’s future. He emphasized that Nigeria’s goal of becoming a global technological and industrial leader depends on investment in STEM education at the secondary level.
“At SIFAX Group and SAHCO, we believe education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives. Beyond classrooms and textbooks, students need practical learning environments where knowledge is tested, curiosity is sparked, and innovation thrives,” he said.
The initiative is part of SAHCO’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy aimed at nation-building through community investment. Afolabi commended the school’s management and SAHCO’s leadership for their collaboration, noting that the new facilities would support teachers and administrators in nurturing young minds, contributing to a stronger economy and a scientifically literate society.
He encouraged students to view the laboratories as opportunities for discovery. “Use them responsibly and boldly. Ask big questions. Run experiments that fail, and try again,” he said.
Mr. Babatunde Afolabi, Executive Director of Business Development at SAHCO, described the CSR initiative as reflecting the transformative power of education. “These laboratories are not just rooms filled with equipment—they are spaces where ideas come to life, where students experiment, innovate, and develop lifelong skills. Together, they create an engaging environment that nurtures talent, builds confidence, and prepares students for a knowledge-driven world,” he said.
SAHCO Managing Director Mrs. Adenike Aboderin emphasized that education is the foundation of society. “We are starting with Mafoluku Grammar School, but we hope to partner with more schools in the airport community. We aim to give students practical experience and ignite their passion for science,” she said.
The Principal, Mrs. Kehinde Obidakin, said the laboratories would inspire great achievements and promised they would be fully utilized. The school’s Head Boy, Master Alex Olawale, thanked SAHCO and assured that the equipment would be used to its maximum potential.
