Kenya Airways has announced its role as the official airline partner for the 2026 Magical Kenya Open, reinforcing a collaboration aimed at promoting sports tourism and positioning Kenya as a global golfing destination.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Magical Kenya Open Partnership Launch held at Karen Country Club, where the airline highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership in connecting international players and officials to the DP World Tour event.
The airline said the sponsorship reflects a broader alliance between national sporting institutions and the aviation sector to elevate the profile of the tournament, which has evolved since its establishment in 1967 into one of Africa’s elite golf competitions.
As part of its in-kind support to Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL), Kenya Airways will provide 20 complimentary tickets for officials and extend a 15 per cent travel discount to 130 elite golfers and 110 caddies travelling from various destinations. The initiative is intended to ease participation and support the growth of sports tourism across the continent.
The carrier is also supporting four Kenyan golfers — Justas Madoya, Dismas Indiza, Isaiah Otuke and Jacob Okello — through travel assistance and branded kits. Two of the backed players, Indiza and Madoya, have already made the cut in this year’s competition.
Beyond tournament logistics, the airline said the event will feature broader corporate engagement through the KQ Village platform, where its commercial and health teams will showcase services alongside demonstrations by Fahari Aviation on drone technology applications in industry and sustainability.
Kenya Airways expressed appreciation to partners, including Kenya Open Golf Limited and the Professional Golfers of Kenya, for their role in developing talent nationwide. The Magical Kenya Open is scheduled to tee off on February 19.
