Zamani Telecom, a major mobile network operator in Niger Republic, has partnered Hayo, a global digital solutions provider, to deploy Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS monetisation and SMS firewall solutions aimed at curbing fraud and boosting revenue.
Under the agreement, Hayo will serve as Zamani’s exclusive partner for A2P monetisation, deploying its SMS Firewall solution to test, identify and block fraudulent traffic across the operator’s network. The move is expected to improve profitability, sustainability and trust in Zamani’s A2P SMS business.
The SMS Firewall solution detects and blocks A2P traffic terminated through grey routes, ensuring all messages are delivered via authorised, whitelisted channels and charged accordingly. Hayo will also introduce pricing strategies designed to grow traffic volumes and prioritise high-value over-the-top (OTT) segments.
Hayo currently supports global technology companies including Alibaba, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Temu and TikTok in delivering A2P SMS traffic in Niger through what it describes as a secure and reliable framework.
“Our A2P monetisation strategies and SMS Firewall solutions ensure operators are protected from fraud by proactively blocking illegitimate traffic,” said Hayo Chief Executive Officer, Feraz Ahmed. “Our approach is built on long-term, win-win partnerships that support sustainable growth and strengthen the mobile ecosystem in Niger.”
Zamani Telecom, formerly Orange Niger, serves more than three million subscribers and provides fixed, mobile and internet services nationwide. The company says it is focused on expanding access to digital technology and supporting the growth of Niger’s digital economy.
Also commenting, Paul Loveridge, Executive Vice President, Carrier Services at Hayo, said the partnership would enhance Zamani’s competitiveness in an increasingly complex global telecoms environment.
“Hayo has a strong track record in delivering solutions that increase revenue and optimise traffic,” Loveridge said. “This partnership will help maximise the value of all traffic on Zamani’s network while ensuring customers have the digital tools they need to succeed.”
Hayo’s A2P SMS Firewall solution includes daily penetration testing to detect bypass and fraudulent routes, traffic rules optimisation, Artificially Induced Traffic (AIT) detection, and anti-fraud training for Zamani Telecom’s team. Testing methods include OTT-generated traffic and simulated two-factor authentication messages sent via international hubs, helping to reduce revenue losses and strengthen network security.
