Member representing Akwanga North constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Larry Ven- Bawa, has earmarked N20 million for disbursement to over 670 students of his constituency  studying in various institutions of learning in the country.

The lawmaker said that the gesture was to complement the efforts of Gov. Abdullahi Sule, parents and guardians in the education of their children.

Ven-Bawa disclosed this on Wednesday while disbursing the money to the students under the “Hon Ven-Bawa 3rd Edition of the Annual Value Addition Scholarship and Empowerment Scheme 2026”  in Akwanga LGA

Ven-Bawa, who is the Chief Whip of the house, said that the gesture was also to add value to the lives of the students and other people of his constituency.

“This is the third edition of this programme under Hon. Ven-Bawa 3rd Edition of the Annual Value Addition Scholarship and Empowerment Scheme.

“This is to complement and support your parents and guardians efforts in your education.

“Gov. Sule has given premium to the education and in every year, education budget is high.

“I want to join your parents and guardians in the fight against illiteracy as education is the bed rock of every society,” he said

The lawmaker said that there was  no legacy that would be left to a child than educating him or her.

According to him, 400 undergraduates students would receive N15, 000 each,  100 NCE/Diploma students would receive  N10,000 each and  50 Post-Graduate students would receive N20,000 each.

Ven-Bawa assured of his continued commitment to initiating different policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the students and other people of his constituency.

He urged the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the money for improved standard of education in his constituency.

The lawmaker also urged the students to shun examination malpractices, cultism and other negative tendencies for them to excel in their academic pursuits.

He called on the people of the constituency to continue to support President Bola Tinubu, Sule and other leaders to succeed .

Also speaking, Alhaji Safiyanu Isa, the ALGON Chairman and Chairman, Akwanga Local Government Area as well as Mr  Kwanta Yakubu, Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, commended Ven- Bawa for consistently paying the scholarship to the students of his constituency.

They said that the gesture would go a long way in reducing the burden of school fees on parents and guardians as well as improve on the standard of education in his constituency.

They also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Ven- Bawa.

Prof. Sada’ atu Liman, Vice-Chancellor, NSUK represented by Prof. Usman Gbari, Mr  Abbas Liman, APC Chairman, Akwanga LGA and Mr Ezekiel Jonathan, Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), commended the lawmaker  for having the interest of the students and his people at heart.

They called on the students and other people of the constituency to support him to succeed beyond 2027.

Responding, Aishatu Zubairu and Usman Abdullahi, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated Ven- Bawa for the gesture and prayed God to bless him abundantly.

They assured him of their support to succeed beyond 2027.
