The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather alert predicting moderate to heavy rainfall across several southern states between Wednesday, November 5, and Friday, November 7, 2025.

According to the forecast, the affected states include Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, and Delta. The forecast, valid from 0000 UTC on November 5 to 2359 UTC on November 7, also indicates that other parts of the country will experience light or no rainfall within the same period.

NiMet warned that the rains may be accompanied by strong winds and advised motorists to avoid driving through surface runoff waters, which may conceal strong undercurrents. The agency also cautioned against possible hazards such as slippery roads, reduced visibility during rainfall, and falling trees or weak structures that could endanger lives and property.

Residents were urged to disconnect electrical appliances before, not during, rainfall, and those living in flood-prone areas were advised to remain vigilant and follow regular updates from the agency.

NiMet added that no significant hydrometeorological hazards are expected outside the forecast zones. It categorized the expected rainfall probability as moderate, noting that some locations could record between 10mm and 30mm of rain within 24 hours.

The agency emphasized that the advisory reflects its commitment to protecting lives and property through timely weather updates.
