The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that parts of Abuja will experience electricity disruptions lasting over two weeks due to ongoing road construction activities.

TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, explaining that the planned outage will affect the 132-kilovolt Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo double-circuit transmission line.

According to the statement, the power interruption will run from Tuesday, October 28, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, and is necessary to ensure the safety of workers and equipment during the road construction along the Kuje axis being undertaken by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that there will be power outages in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory as the FCDA commences road construction works along the Kuje axis from Tuesday, 28th October, to 16th November, 2025.

The construction work will affect the 132kV Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo double-circuit transmission line. In view of this, TCN will undertake a planned load management operation involving temporary interruption of power within the working hours for the road construction to ensure the safety of all stakeholders,” the statement read in part.

The company said the planned outage will be executed in three phases for smoother operations:

Phase One: Tuesday, October 28, to Sunday, November 2, 2025 — 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily

Phase Two: Thursday, November 6, to Sunday, November 9, 2025 — 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily

Phase Three: Wednesday, November 12, to Sunday, November 16, 2025 — 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily

TCN assured residents that power supply would be restored to the affected areas at the end of each day’s work period.

The areas to be affected include Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and Idu Industrial Layout.
