The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has introduced a cashless payment system across its airports, starting with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The initiative, tagged Operation Go Cashless, was launched in partnership with Paystack and will take effect from September 29, 2025. Under the new policy, all payments at FAAN’s revenue points—including access gates, car parks, and VIP and protocol lounges—will be made through contactless transactions, phasing out cash collections at these facilities.
According to FAAN, the move is aimed at improving efficiency, ensuring transparency in revenue collection, and aligning Nigeria’s airports with global digital trends. The authority said the new system would also provide travelers and airport users with quicker and more convenient services.
To ease the transition, brand ambassadors have been deployed at access gates and terminals to guide users, assist with onboarding, and demonstrate how to use the new system. Passengers can also obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at access gates in Lagos and Abuja, which can be activated and funded online via www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng.
FAAN said the policy would be rolled out in phases to other airports across the country.
