The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has given Caverton Helicopters a certificate to operate drones, officially called Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).
This shows that the NCAA is serious about making air travel safer and also wants to make it easier for companies to do business in the aviation sector.
The Director-General of the NCAA, Captain Chris Najomo, handed the certificate to the Managing Director of Caverton Helicopters, Captain Ibrahim Bello, during a ceremony at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.
According to Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, Caverton had to go through a strict process to prove it met all safety and regulatory requirements before getting the certificate.
Now that Caverton has received the certificate, it is officially allowed to use drones in Nigeria. This adds to the company’s services in the aviation industry.
