The Ondo State House of Assembly has praised the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, saying her plans and initiatives will help place the university among the best in the world.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Tertiary Education, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, led other members of the committee on a visit to the institution. He commended the quality of teaching at UNIMED and promised that the Assembly would continue to support the university.

Describing the Vice-Chancellor as a pragmatic and visionary leader, Ayebusiwa said, “The Vice-Chancellor only assumed office a few months ago, but the quality of her relationship with the House of Assembly already feels like it has been built over many years.”

On behalf of the Assembly, he pledged that the lawmakers would always provide the support needed for the university to succeed.

“This university is especially dear to our hearts because of its many unique qualities, and as a committee, we will always stand by it,” he added.

Other committee members who spoke during the visit noted some areas where the university still needed improvement but unanimously agreed that the quality of academic delivery was outstanding.

In her response, Prof. Adejuyigbe thanked the committee for the visit and outlined her vision for the institution. She assured them that UNIMED would continue to grow and remain a pride to Ondo State, Nigeria, and the world at large.

The lawmakers on the familiarization visit included Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, Hon. Abitogun Rotimi Stephen, Hon. Agbulu Tope Akeem, and Hon. Oguntodu Olajide Johnson.
