The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed a total of ₦5.99 trillion to states and local governments across Nigeria between January and June 2025, with Lagos and Rivers States emerging as the highest recipients.

According to figures released for the first half of the year, Lagos State (inclusive of its local governments) topped the allocation chart with ₦464.51 billion, followed closely by Rivers State with ₦374.56 billion, and Delta State with ₦368.75 billion.

The zone-by-zone FAAC allocation chart for January–June 2025, showing how each region shared from the ₦5.99 trillion disbursement.

In regional terms, the South-South zone received the highest allocation with ₦1.56 trillion, reflecting the zone’s oil-rich status. The South-West followed with ₦1.14 trillion, while the North-West got ₦1.13 trillion. The North-Central zone received ₦799.05 billion, the North-East ₦745.11 billion, while the South-East received the lowest with ₦650.02 billion.

National outlook

The allocation pattern highlights the dominance of oil-producing states in federal revenue distribution, with the South-South alone accounting for more than a quarter of the total disbursement. Conversely, the South-East, with five states, received the least, barely crossing ₦650 billion.

According to FAAC, which is responsible for sharing federally generated revenue, the funds are meant to support states and local governments in governance, infrastructure, and service delivery.
