Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sacked two Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) after investigative committees found them guilty of serious misconduct.
The announcement was made on Saturday in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk Ibrahim.
One of those dismissed is Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilization. A special investigative panel found him guilty of arranging the bail of a notorious drug dealer, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
In a letter dated Friday, August 8, 2025, the Secretary to the State Government directed Sharada to hand over all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs (REPA) by the close of work on Monday, August 11, 2025. He was also warned not to present himself as a government official again.
The second official removed is Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office. He was arrested in 2024 for rebagging palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada.
Roba has been taken to court and is facing charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly diverting public assets. He has also been ordered to return all government property, including his ID card, by Monday, August 11, 2025, and to stop presenting himself as a public officer.
Meanwhile, the government has cleared Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, of any wrongdoing after an investigative committee declared him innocent.
Governor Yusuf stressed his administration’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and a zero-tolerance policy for corruption. He warned all public officials to maintain integrity in both their public and private lives.
The statement also advised members of the public not to deal with the two sacked officials on any issue related to the Kano State Government, warning that anyone who does so will be doing it at their own risk.
