Governor Ahmed Aliyu opened the new Tamaje Water Scheme on Wednesday. This is one of six major water projects in the state, costing more than ₦14.1 billion in total.

At the event in Tamaje, Aliyu called the project a big step forward. He said it helps meet the growing need for clean drinking water in the state capital and nearby areas, especially as the city grows fast.

“Clean water is not just a need—it is a basic human right,” Aliyu said.He stressed how important clean water is for everyone’s health and well-being.

The governor said his government is focused on providing clean water for all.He believes this is important for both public health and economic growth.

The Tamaje project will provide 3 million gallons of water daily. It is one of six water schemes that will together supply 40 million gallons of water each day when completed. Other locations include Old Airport, Gagi, Mana, Runjin Sambo, and Ruga Liman.

Aliyu thanked former governor Aliyu Wamakko for starting the project. He said the current government is continuing the good work started by the previous administration.

Governor Aliyu welcomed Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State as a special guest. He said the visit shows unity and cooperation among Nigerian leaders.

He asked local people to take care of the new water facility.“Treat this place as your own—it is here for your health and your future,” he told them.

Aliyu promised that the government will finish the other water projects soon.He also said they are working to fix power issues so that the water supply is steady and reliable.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu for leading the country well.He promised that Sokoto State will continue to support the Federal Government.

The event marks a major step in improving the state’s public services. Aliyu said his government wants to complete important projects that improve people’s lives.

“Let’s keep working together to build a better Sokoto for everyone,” the governor said.

Governor Okpebholo also spoke at the event. He praised Governor Aliyu for working on projects that benefit the people and said the work matches President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” plan.
