Fidelity Bank Plc has donated essential equipment to the newly established Gilgal Rehabilitation Community Foundation in Ayobo, Lagos State, to support mental health development in the area.

The Gilgal Rehabilitation Community Foundation is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to isolating drug addicts from enabling environments and providing structured support for their recovery.

In a statement released on Thursday, Fidelity Bank said the donation was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, specifically under the bank’s health and social welfare pillar, which focuses on supporting vulnerable individuals and alleviating poverty and hunger in local communities.

At the official handover ceremony, the Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh highlighted the bank’s commitment to supporting social impact projects that positively affect communities.

“As a bank, we continuously seek opportunities to collaborate with organisations committed to making a positive difference in society. Mental health remains a crucial yet often overlooked area. At Fidelity Bank, we understand the profound impact of mental well-being on individuals and communities, which is why we are proud to support Gilgal Rehabilitation in creating a habitable and functional space for those it serves. Beyond the physical infrastructure, the centre needs key amenities to provide a conducive environment for healing and recovery. Our donation aligns with the bank’s vision of touching lives, especially for those in dire need of restoration,” Dr. Nwagboh said.

The donation included air conditioners and TV sets to enhance the facility’s comfort and functionality.

Responding, the Presiding Steward of the Gilgal Rehabilitation Community Foundation, Luke Okonkwo expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank for supporting individuals battling addiction.

“Drug addicts are people with great destinies who have simply taken a wrong turn. This donation will help us secure formal approval from regulatory authorities to expand our services to include female recovering addicts, orphans, the elderly, and more,” he said.
“This is more than just a rehab centre; it is a sanctuary for restoration. We encourage other organisations to follow Fidelity Bank’s example in supporting efforts to improve our society.”

Fidelity Bank Plc is ranked among the top banks in Nigeria, operating 255 business offices nationwide and a subsidiary in the United Kingdom, FidBank UK Ltd. The bank has received numerous local and international awards for excellence.
