ASHENEWS reports that the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, emerged as a top achiever at the National Finals of the Huawei ICT Skills Competition 2024/2025, held in Abuja on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The University clinched the prestigious ‘Best Academy Award’, cementing its reputation as a leader in ICT education and innovation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, and the Director of the IIOE Nigeria National Centre, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Mu’azu, were present at the event, which saw ABU staff and students claim a range of awards.
Prof. Bala received the ‘Best Supporting Vice-Chancellor Award’ for his commitment to fostering ICT development at the University, while three instructors were honored with the ‘Best Instructors Award’.
These included Engr. Bashir Halliru Sani of IAIICT, Dr. Shehu Mohammed Yusuf of Computer Engineering, and Nasir Aminu Lawal, also of IAIICT.
In addition, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Mu’azu was recognized with the ‘Most Important Personality Award’ for his significant contributions to ICT education and capacity building.
The competition also celebrated the exceptional performance of ABU students. Erasmus Edward Obeth, a Computer Engineering student, secured 1st position in the Computing Track, while Nuruddin Kabir of Electrical Engineering came 3rd in the same category.
In the Cloud Track, Adekunle Abdulroqeeb Oladimeji of Electrical Engineering and Yakubu Musa Yakubu of Computer Science clinched 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
