In this economy, the minimum wage is not enough for anyone. But you can plant your way out of it in five steps. I was with my tree planting partners in Zaria yesterday who showed me their Crimson seedless grapes seedlings they imported from Egypt.
By Ibraheem Dooba
They sell each seedling for N10,000.
Step 1:
So you’re going to sell seedlings like them. Buy three seedlings from them and plant them at home. If you don’t have a space, plant them in sacks.

Step 2:
Grape vines grow very quickly. When they do cut the branches to only 2 to 3 buds. This also helps the tree produce fruits.
Step 3:
Dip the cut vines into a container of rooting hormone and plant them in nursery bags or pure water sachets. I’ll teach you how to make your rooting hormone in the next post.

Step 4:
Your new plant should root in a couple of weeks.
Step 5:
Sell on social media at N10,000 a seedling. Target to sell 10 a month. Plant more from your cuttings so that you get more seedlings to sell.
Crimson grapes fruit in 17 months. Will they fruit in your area? I think so. Ours in Minna and Abuja fruits twice a year.
