Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed deep sadness over the death of the Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja,
The Sultan, in a statement by his Media Team on Thursday, extended his heartfelt condolences to the Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Nigerian Army, and the family of the deceased over the irreparable loss.
In this difficult time of losing a highly respected military leader in the world’s most populous Black nation, the Sultan, though saddened by General Lagbaja’s demise, takes consolation in the fact that he lived a life committed to building a robust national Army as a fine officer of indisputable integrity and good character who embodied a spirit of compassion.
According to Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, a retired Army Brigadier General, “I have always had profound respect and admiration for the leadership and dedication of General Lagbaja, notably from his time as General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Enugu, through his days as GOC 1 Division Kaduna, and finally as the Chief of Army Staff, where he worked tirelessly to build a formidable military structure for our nation’s security.”
The Co-President of World Religions for Peace, New York, added that General Lagbaja’s unwavering commitment to duty was an inspiration to countless individuals, and emphasized how deeply his loss is felt throughout the entire country, especially within the armed forces community.
To the nation, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and especially to the family, the Sultan expressed, “Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, your loved ones, and the entire family.”
“General Lagbaja’s sweet memory is one that cannot be forgotten in a hurry, especially considering his humanity and kindness, despite being a staunch professional and a fine officer.”
With a sense of deepest sympathy, he prayed, “May Almighty Allah grant you all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
