ASHENEWS reports that Sokoto state Governor Ahmed Aliyu has issued a stern warning to local government and Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) officials who tampered with the N30,000 Sallah gifts allocated to state workers.
The Governor demanded the immediate return of the diverted funds or face serious consequences.
Governor Aliyu delivered this warning on Friday while addressing a large crowd of well-wishers and supporters at the Government House in Sokoto.
He expressed his dismay at the unethical behaviour of some finance officers, particularly at the local government level, who deprived their staff of the ₦30,000 approved by the State government as Sallah gifts.

“I am appalled that anyone would deny our workers the stipends we provided to ensure their financial stability during the Sallah festive season,” Governor Aliyu remarked.
“Those who diverted these funds must return them immediately, or we will impose severe punitive measures against them. We will make sure that the culprits reap what they have sown to serve as a deterrent to others.”
The Governor urged all heads of agencies where such corrupt practices occurred to promptly compile a list of all affected workers and ensure that they are refunded.
He reassured the people of Sokoto State of his administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and the prudent management of public funds for the benefit of all.
“This administration has zero tolerance for corruption and all corrupt tendencies,” Aliyu emphasized.
“Anyone who thinks they can loot public funds and get away with it is mistaken. This administration is a true reflection of a government of the people, for the people, and by the people. We have a significant task ahead of us, which we must carry out diligently, regardless of whose interests are affected.”
Governor Aliyu also called on the people of Sokoto State to continue to support the current administration in its relentless quest to fulfill its campaign promises.
He extended his gratitude to the APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his fatherly role and guidance, and thanked the entire populace for their unwavering support and fervent prayers.
The Governor concluded by urging the people to sustain their support and cooperation, which are vital for the administration’s success in delivering good governance and positive change.
