The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for donating of 70 trucks of fertilizer in support of agricultural activities in Kano.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.

During the inauguration of rural access roads in Dawakin Kudu Local Government, the Governor announced that the President had graciously provided 70 trucks of fertilizer to be promptly distributed to farmers in Kano.

The Governor expressed his delight in informing the public of the President’s generous donation and extended heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the government and the gracious people of Kano for the President’s support towards their farmers.
“Kano remains steadfast in its commitment to agricultural transformation by ensuring the accessibility and affordability of high-quality agricultural inputs to enhance crop production within the state” he said.

Previously, the Governor had directed the state-owned Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) to begin extensive production of fertilizer in preparation for the upcoming 2024 rainy season, to aid smallholder farmers across the state.
As one of Nigeria’s leading crop-producing states, Kano is blessed with vast arable land suitable for cultivating staple crops such as rice, maize, soybeans, groundnuts, sesame, hibiscus, and sorghum.
A fertilizer or fertiliser is any material of natural or synthetic origin that is applied to soil or to plant tissues to supply plant nutrients.
Fertilizers may be distinct from liming materials or other non-nutrient soil amendments. Many sources of fertilizer exist, both natural and industrially produced.
