Muhammad-Umar, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Sa’adatu Sai’d-Bala, urged members of the committee to work tirelessly to mitigate GBV due to the increasing number of cases recorded in the state.
She advised them to pay attention to other cases of gender-based abuses, ranging from sexual exploitation, harassment, and other challenges across the state and the country at large.
“Members of the committee were selected based on their knowledge and experiences as partners in supporting policies and programs aimed at uplifting the standard of living of Kano citizens,” Muhammad-Umar said
The Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics in the ministry, Yakubu Muhammad, presented a paper on how to report data.
The second paper was presented by an NGO, George Town Global Health Nigeria, as a partner.
Members of the committee included representatives of NAPTIP, the police, the Ministries of Health, Education and Women Affairs, NGOs, and the traditional institution.
