The Rivers State Government has confirmed the detention of an unidentified man, suspected of detonating an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Fubara has also mandated the Auditor General of the State to begin the audit of the accounts of the 23 Local Government Areas for the past three years.
“We wish to call on the government of Rivers State to immediately prepare treason charges against the 23 former LGA chairmen and their sponsors and co-conspirators for the failed attempt to unlawfully take the government of the 23 LGA knowing full well that their tenure had elapsed and they are no longer local government chairmen.”

Justice Charles Wali gave the order in Suit No PHC/1512/CS/2024, brought by Victor Oko Jumbo, Speaker, Rivers State House Of Assembly, Sokari Goodboy Sokari and Orubienimigha Adolphus Timothy, on the crises rocking the legislative arm of the state.
“I strongly advise both of you to withdraw from the madness of politics in Rivers State to avoid the dangerous crisis facing Rivers State, one of the most important states producing the resources used to sustain the economy of this country. I hope you do not forget that the International Oil Companies (IOCs) and the deep seaport of Onne are very well established in Rivers State.
